The Arkansas Banjo Company - Pinnacle
The Pinnacle Banjo is Maple and is named for the mountain which is one of the most scenic areas of Arkansas. It is made using very fancy curly or quilted maple.
Arkansas banjos incorporate an exclusive patented head tensioning system that, once the head has normalized (broken in) and the nuts are torqued with a suitable torque wrench, controls the tightness regardless of the temperature. The tension on each hook will remain constant within less than 2 pounds of pull. The system automatically adjusts for changes dramatically reducing tonal changes in the banjo. The hooks are now under controlled tension. The tension of the head is very uniform around the tone ring. As the hooks are under a constant tension, new heads are broken in at a much faster rate. Another part of the system is that the top coordinator nut pressure is controlled and can be adjusted. Loosening of the nut due to vibration has also been greatly reduced. This prevents the rim of the banjo being distorted to the point of affecting the tone ring vibrations. All of this is done without adding any weight to the banjo, nor does it change the visible appearance in any way.
